WELCOME!

Welcome to the first blog post for After The Heat! We are still in the process of finding direction although we feel that you'll have a great time as we find our own identity in cyberspace. Like many music blogs that currently exist, we plan on sharing music that we deeply identify with.

First off this blog is run by two music nerds that happen to bore most people to tears with our musical enthusiasm. Some of us even have a hard time maintaining serious relationships because of this problem/blessing. So we now have turned to our only option in order to connect with those who would like to connect with us. ;-) We run and dj a Tuesday night 'club' called, for better or for worse, FRIENDS CHILL. We are devoted to ... well the thing we have the most difficultly with is trying to describe the night for fear of being pigeonholed. We feel we each bring something unique and personal to the night; Dubchops, the FRIENDS CHILL mastermind, has provided music as far ranging as Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Stereolab, & Squarepusher since the nights inception over 7 years ago. DubChops is a natural born genre bender (who goes on benders).

Mark Moon is the latest addition to the Friend's Chill resident dj roster. Even though his sounds are different from that of DUBCHOPS, his musical leanings have been a welcome addition to the night. So what are these so called sounds? Think Kraftwerk getting Larry Levan to remix their Computer World album with King Tubby sharing the controls on the mixing board. In other words Mark wholeheartedly embraces dub, classic electronic, and underground disco vibes. Not separatedly but conglomerately. The night is entering it's 8th year and to honor it's anniversary we have decided to share the vibe of the night via this blog to the world at large.

Here are some pics from FRIENDS CHILL
